Fabian Allen was at the top of his game in a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) match against Trinbago Knight Riders on Friday, September 6. His all-round heroics helped Antigua And Barbuda Falcons notch their maiden victory of the campaign. Allen scored a quickfire 25 before registering a three-wicket haul. The Jamaican all-rounder was named the Player of the Match as his side won the contest by six runs at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
Allen was equally impressive as a fielder. He took a brilliant catch off his own bowling to dismiss Nicholas Pooran for a duck. The event unfolded in the 10th over of the second innings when Trinbago Knight Riders were chasing 177 runs.
Fabian Allen first trapped Shaqkere Parris in front to claim his first wicket of the match. Later, Pooran pulled off a powerful shot, aiming for the long-on boundary. Allen reacted promptly and the ball deflected off his hands. Allen was ready for the second chance. He fell onto the ground but ended up completing the catch.
A video of his acrobatic effort was shared on the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the CPLT20 along with a caption, that read, “Fabian Allen, the juggler! A Carib catch for the ages.”

After Nicholas Pooran’s dismissal, Trinbago Knight Riders opener Andries Gous fell victim to Fabian Allen in the 12th over. The all-rounder conceded 23 runs in his four overs as the Antigua And Barbuda Falcons restricted their opponents to 170 runs. Among other bowlers, Roshon Primus picked up two wickets while Mohammad Amir, Chris Green and Shamar Springer claimed one scalp each.
The top-order batters of the Antigua And Barbuda Falcons enjoyed a good outing in the home match. The opening pair of Fakhar Zaman and Justin Greaves put up a 60-plus score in the powerplay. Imad Wasim was the top scorer for his side with 46 runs. The Pakistan star hit four boundaries and two sixes facing 29 deliveries. Despite the commanding win, Antigua And Barbuda Falcons remain at the second-last spot in the CPL 2024 points table. They lost their previous four matches.
