Bharathi Bhuvania is a South Indian actress, who was once a prominent face in the Tamil, Telugu and Kannada film industries.

Do you remember the actress who played Padmini in the 1995 Rajinikanth-starrer Muthu? Yes, it was Bharathi Bhuvania, widely recognised by her stage name Subhasree.

Subhasree embarked on her acting journey in the Tamil film industry and subsequently explored roles in Telugu and Kannada cinema. Despite exhibiting versatility in her choice of scripts and roles, the actress seemingly vanished from the cinema scene. What does she look like now?

Making her acting debut in 1993 with the Tamil film Gentleman, Subhasree simultaneously entered the Kannada industry with Chirabandhavya in the same year. However, she gained prominence for her role in Muthu. This 1995 Tamil film, written and directed by K. S. Ravikumar and produced by Kavithalayaa Productions, starred Rajinikanth, Meena, Sarath Babu, Radha Ravi, Senthil, Vadivelu, Jayabharathi, Subhashri, and Ponnambalam. Muthu, a remake of the Malayalam movie Thenmavin Kombath (1994), captivated audiences with its story of a zamindar and a worker vying for the affection of the same woman.

After her debut in 1993, she starred in about 30 movies and her acting career lasted for only four years, before she disappeared and never returned to the silver screen. This is what the actress looks like now:

After Muthu, she starred in many other movies like Pokiri Raja (1995), Pedarayudu (1995), and Minor Mappillai (1996). The actress has starred in a few other movies released in 1997- Peddannayya, Kurralla Rajyam, Atta Nee Koduku Jagratta, Allari Pellikoduku, and Kaliyugamlo Gandaragolam, Circle Inspector, Mavana Magalu, Bhanda Alla Bahaddur, and Kalyani. She was last seen in the 1998 movie Allari Pellam by Sivaji Raja.

The actress is currently active on Instagram and is a social activist. She is a part of Dignity and Services which is about empowering adults with learning difficulties in Malaysia towards independent living.
