Directed by Ameer Sultan and produced by KE Gnanavelraja, Paruthiveeran is a 2007 film that marked the debut of actor Karthi. The film also featured Priyamani in the lead role. Recently, the producer and director of the film again caught up in controversies for their aged-old tussle over the funding of the film. The financial allegations soon turned into hurling accusations against Ameer by Gnanavelraja.
Recently, the Paruthiveeran censor certificate went viral on social media and it proved that not KE Gnanavelraja, Ameer Sultan was the producer of the film. Reportedly, the film was handed over to KE Gnanavelraja for the sake of the film’s smooth release. Additionally, the censor certificate which is now viral on the internet has added value to Ameer’s claim and fans have come out in support of the director.
All this began after the production cost of the film Paruthiveeran extended by a huge amount. This led Gnanavelraja to leave the film midway and give the responsibility to the director Ameer for the production of the film. Ameer sincerely accepted the responsibility and worked around the film till its release along with investing money on the same. However, Gnanavelraja stepped into the frame and released the film under his banner. Ameer, as per the allegations he made, has not received the proper compensation. On the other hand, Gnanavelraja refuted the allegation saying Ameer spent more than the film’s allotted budget and that he is someone who cannot be worked with.
During an interaction with Behindwoods O2 on November 18, Ameer alleged that a “third person” (hinting at Gnanavelraja) had created a rift between him and actors Karthi and Suriya. He also revealed that the dispute between him and Gnanavelraja is over nearly Rs 1-1.5 crores. The amount is yet to be paid and is pending since the times they were working on Paruthiveeran. Adding further, he said that he wants justice and not money as he had taken loans and spent his personal money on the film.
