People love to celebrate festivals and other joyful occasions in an artful way and for women, they are never complete without beautiful mehendi designs. Many festive events are around the corner in Tamil Nadu, just like the rest of India and a Cone Maker from Erode, Mrs Kalaivani has told News18 how women can make cheap mehendi cones at home.

According to her, a bowl, henna powder, essential oils, sugar and lemon juice are mixed to make a henna cone. She explained that earlier, people used to pluck henna leaves naturally and ground them with betel nuts without losing the fragrance of the leaves. A henna paste is formed when the leaves are ground with the betel nuts. The henna paste is then put in a circular shape on the palm. It is advised to cover the fingers with a cucumber and wash it off after the colour has dried.

The red colour imprinted on the palms will give a lovely appearance. Mrs Kalaivani explained that there are no artificial ingredients in this cone. She owns the Little Princess Bridal Studio in Erode and can be contacted on 9976275997 for more information regarding the mehendi cones.

She said that this henna will be long-lasting and continue to remain so for months. In modern times, henna cones are available for sale in large numbers, because it is quite easy to curate designs on the palm.

According to an article published in thehealthsite.com, the henna obtained naturally is free of chemicals, but they are added in some cases. The chemical known by the name, PPD (Para-phenylenediamine) is added to henna mixtures to intensify the colour and lower application time. Most people are unaware of the fact that PPD is a powerful allergen and its contact with the skin might trigger an allergic reaction. Common symptoms that anyone may experience include itching, redness, burning and swelling of the skin. In this case, wash off the hand or head and eat anti-allergy medications like Allegra or Avil.

What's your reaction?
