Chennai Police Grants Permission For Harris Jayaraj Concert With Restrictions
Harris Jayaraj's ROCK ON HARRIS concert will be held at Nandanam YMCA ground in Chennai on Friday evening.

Over the last month, AR Rahman has been in the news due to an incident that occurred at his concert in Chennai. Fans who were unable to attend the event expressed their displeasure on social media with photos and videos, igniting a controversy and leading to trolling of AR Rahman. The controversy around AR Rahman’s concert has not properly died down, and another concert, this time featuring veteran musician Harris Jayaraj, is to be held today. Reportedly, police have granted conditional permission to the organisers to hold the concert.

Harris Jayaraj’s ROCK ON HARRIS concert will be held at Nandanam YMCA ground in Chennai on Friday evening. The event is organised by Noise & Grains. The police have authorised this under several restrictions. As a result, seating must be restricted to the permitted level and appropriately.

The police should be provided with information such as the number of tickets sold and the price of each ticket. Additionally, there should be sufficient parking spaces available for both two- and four-wheelers. The police have also cautioned the event planners against engaging in any traffic infractions.

Any violation of the guidelines would result in police immediately cancelling their permission for the event. Certain guidelines have been laid down by Noise & Grains as well such as a kid above 5 years old needing to have a ticket and that anyone under the age of 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult.

Talking about the controversy surrounding AR Rahman’s concert, it was held on September 10 and was named Marakkuma Nenjam to celebrate 30 years of AR Rahman. Announced to start at 7 p.m. on the day, entry was permitted for the event from 3 p.m. To fulfil anticipation, the event planners offered tickets in the following categories: VIP, Diamond, Platinum, Gold and Silver, ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 25,000. However, there were more tickets than there were seats available, which made a mess at the venue.

Many came in their cars because the event was hosted outside of Chennai. According to reports, this led to a lot of traffic at the event site. The police gave the event promoters authorisation, despite their claims that just 25,000 people would attend. However, when the 50,000 or so attendees showed up, the mob became out of hand.
