Actor Silambarasan TR’s latest film was Pathu Thala, directed by Obeli N Krishna. He is currently collaborating with director Desingh Periyasamy for a project tentatively titled STR48. The announcement was made last year, generating significant anticipation. Produced by Kamal Haasan under his home banner, the film’s poster was unveiled on February 3 to celebrate Silambarasan’s birthday.
On Thursday, Silambarasan teased fans with a promo video, sparking confusion among them about whether it was the highly anticipated teaser for STR48. In the film, the actor portrays a dual role, and recently, it was disclosed that he underwent a significant physical transformation for his character. Described as a period fantasy action film, the 25-second promo released shows an army preparing for battle, eagerly awaiting the arrival of its king.

Silambarasan shared the video with the caption, “Excited about this one! Stay tuned!” Although the actor didn’t provide any hint if the video is related to STR48, fans speculated that it could be due to its historical setting. However, since there hasn’t been an official confirmation, it’s believed that the video is part of Silambarasan’s upcoming advertisement. It’s possibly a promo for a popular brand.
Silambarasan TR is currently undergoing special training in Thailand for his role in the film. Additionally, there is speculation that Kamal Haasan will make a cameo appearance in the movie. Pooja Hegde has been selected to star opposite Silambarasan in STR48. Devi Sri Prasad has been roped in to compose the music for the movie.
As per reports, it’s a full-fledged action movie set in a historical backdrop, and director Desingh Periyasamy intends to make it the largest film of STR’s career. The estimated budget for the film will reportedly be around Rs 100 crore, making it the most expensive movie of STR’s career. The film showcases STR in a dual role, with each character having its own unique identity.
