Mumbai: The BSE benchmark Sensex extended gains for the third straight day by adding over 104 points in the opening trade today on sustained buying by funds.
The 30-share index of the Bombay Stock Exchange, which had gained over 418 points in the previous two sessions, moved up further by 104.33 points to 18,370.43 in the opening trade.
In a similar fashion, the broad-based National Stock Exchange Nifty index rose by 33.20 points to 5,509.30.
Brokers said continued buying by funds in heavy weight stocks mainly influenced the trading sentiment.
Meanwhile, The US Dow Jones Industrial average ended 0.31 per cent higher in Friday's trade. The Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was marginally down by 0.06 per cent.
