Mumbai: The rupee fell to a lifetime low to close at 66.24 against the dollar on month-end demand from importers, capital outflows and Food Bill subsidy concerns. The rupee on Monday closed at 64.30 against the dollar.

Housing Development Finance Corp Ltd ended down 7.8 per cent, while ITC Ltd lost 3.12 per cent. The broader Nifty tanked 3.45 per cent, while the benchmark BSE Sensex slumped 3.18 per cent, snapping their three-day winning streak.
