Mumbai: After four good days of gain the markets closed with bit of retracement on the last day of week.
The Sensex saw a good week but a soft session as it closed below the 10,700 level at 10,680.23 down 61 points.
The Nifty lost 25 points to close at 3131. The BSE Small Cap Index closed at 5,065.17, up 36 points.
The BSE Midcap Index ended at 4,277.53, up 49 points.
Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Auto, TCS, Infosys, GAIL, NALCO, M&M and Tata Power were the major laggards. Among the gainers on the indices were Dr Reddys Labs, SBI, BHEL, Grasim, SAIL and Tata Steel.
Hindustan Lever was trading at Rs 244.75 down 0.24 per cent and Reliance was trading at Rs 991.00 down 0.76 per cent.
Tech major Infosys was trading at Rs 1,636.00 down 1.04 per cent from its previous close of Rs 1,653.25. Cigarette major ITC was trading at Rs 166.85 up 0.18 per cent from its previous close of Rs 166.55.
Refinery major HPCL was trading at Rs 221.10 down 0.11 per cent from its previous close of Rs 221.35.
