Markets end flat amid volatile trade
The markets have opened the week in the positive terrain with selling pressure witnessed in IT and refineries.

New Delhi: The markets ended flat amid volatile trade on lack of buying interest in stocks. The Sensex closed at 13,874.33 up 29.55 points or 0.2 per cent. The Nifty closed up 3.40 points or 0.09 per cent at 4001.

Selective buying was seen in stocks like Tata Motors, ACC, L&T and PNB.

The BSE Small Cap Index closed at 6,776.84 up 58.10 points or 0.9 per cent.

The BSE Midcap Index ended at 5,818.95 up 43.53 points or 0.75 per cent.

The BSE Bankex was lost 0.53 per cent at 7,250.99. Canara Bank, UTI Bank, Bank of India, SBI, Bank of Baroda moved downwards.

The BSE IT Index lost 0.1 per cent at 5,136.44. Satyam, HDFC Bank, Wipro, HDFC, ONGC, Hero Honda declined.

The BSE Metal Index was up 0.6 per cent to close at 8,967.97. Sterlite Ind, Welspun Guj, Mah Seamless, Hindalco, Hind Zinc ended higher.

The BSE Capital Goods Index was up 2.2 per cent at 9,305.81. Aban Offshore, Ingersoll Rand, Lakshmi Machine, L&T and Thermax closed higher.

The BSE Health Care Index closed was up 0.5 per cent at 3,788.34. Ipca Labs, Ranbaxy Labs, Aurobindo Pharm, Divis Labs, Sun Pharma closed higher.

The BSE FMCG Index gained 0.5 per cent at 2,060.85. United Spirits, Tata Tea, Shaw Wallace, Britannia closed in green.

The BSE Auto Index closed at 5,515.85 up 0.8 per cent. Tata Motors, Apollo Tyres, Escorts, Punj Tractors, Hind Motors moved higher.

The BSE Oil and Gas Index lost 0.05 per cent to close at 6,126.94. Petronet LNG, ONGC, Reliance Natura, BPCL ended in red.

The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 8840.92 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 24341.18 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 4818.42 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 38000.52 crore.
