Dubai: India is among the largest trade partners of the UAE, but there is scope for further strengthening of business ties between the two countries, a senior UAE minister has said.

The topic of increased cooperation between the two countries was discussed at a meeting in Abu Dhabi on Sunday between Elamaran Kareem, Kerala's Minister for Industries and Dr Mohammed Khalfan bin Kharbash, Minister of State for Financial and Industrial Affairs in Abu Dhabi.

Kharbash lauded the level of ties between the UAE and India, saying that India is among UAE's largest trade partners.

Kareem expressed India's keenness to expand ties with the UAE in all spheres.

He also said that the visit made by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai to India contributed to strengthening relations between the two countries, specially in economic and commercial fields.

The two ministers exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual concern, as well as best ways to benefit from the accords signed between the two countries, including agreement on prevention of double-taxation, concluded last March.
