New Delhi: Now you can fly Indian?that's the new name of Indian Airlines.
Indian Airlines has gone in for an image makeover after 50 years. With a new logo and look, Indian Airlines has come out boldly, even in terms of the font size, to compete with the existing private airlines.
The new marketing strategy and a transformed attitude will reflect a new youthful image.
A mint fresh Airbus A319 aircraft landed at Delhi airport from Hamburg on Monday and the Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel launched the new look of the airline.
The aircraft on lease is the first of its kind and there are four more to join. Acquisition of 43 aircraft and a proposed IPO, is also likely to come up early next year.
Airbus estimated 570 aircraft by 2024, but new estimates by them almost doubles the figure to 800-1000 aircraft by 2026.
Patel said that starting 2006, virtually every month one aircraft will be added to its fleet.
Patel said that the increase in number of aircraft will put pressure on airports and hence infrastructure will be provided for as fast as possible.
"Get the aircraft first, we'll find the place to keep," he said.
