Mumbai: An AC Nielsen global study found out how the average consumer plans to tackle the oil price hike.
The study said that the price rises will drive about half of the Indians interviewed to drive less. And about a third of the Indians polled said they would join car pools.
"If there will be price hikes, I will try to travel less," said Mumbai Businessman, Manoj Pitale.
"I will use public transport more frequently because in the area where I reside there is a lot of traffic so ultimately there is more fuel consumption" said another worried resident in the city.
About a third of Indians polled see public transport as an option to cope with the sky rocketing fuel prices.
In India only fuel price is on the cards, while the percentage is much higher in other countries.
Appallingly fuel prices have hiked by over 53 per cent in Korea and 47 per cent in China.
In India 14 percent of respondents are keen to exchange their vehicles for a more fuel efficient one.
Experts say rising prices have spurred carmakers to make more fuel-efficient vehicles.
