The employees are demanding more bonus amount from the company.

Vadodara: About 2,500 employees of Reliance Industries working at its plants located in Vadodara, will go on strike on October 24 in support of their demand for more bonus amount.

All three labour unions affiliated with All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) have given notice to the management of the company and labour commissioner regarding this.

Before merger of Government-owned Indian Petrochemical Corporation Ltd (IPCL) with Reliance in April 2007, they were employees of the Government-owned IPCL.

The union leaders said Reliance Industries Limited's (RIL) offer of Rs 33,000 was not acceptable to them which was Rs 40,000 last year.

They questioned the wisdom of RIL management on fixing different amount of bonus for the employees working in the plants located in different parts of the country.

In support of their arguments, they said the employees of RIL unit working at Hazira get Rs 72,000 as bonus while they have been offered Rs 33,000 as bonus amount which is not acceptable to them under any circumstances.

RIL's profit is more than Rs 11,000 crore. Not only that performance of Vadodara-based plants is also good in terms of productivity and has not reported any industrial dispute.

The leaders' said that the company management failed to provide them production data-sheet and computation sheet despite repeated demand.
