'Silicon Slum': Video of Potholes on Bengaluru Roads Has People Questioning City's Infrastructure
Viral video shows Bengaluru roads filled with potholes, angering people on social media.

A video which is currently doing rounds on social media shows the poor condition of Bengaluru roads which are filled with potholes. ‘X’ handle Citizens Movement took to the social media platform and uploaded the video, angering people. The video is a reflection of the poorly constructed roads in the tech city. Not just this but there are also potholes, filled with water, which can be a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Taking a jibe, the video drew its inspiration from an ongoing viral meme. “Roads of #BrandBengaluru. So Elegant…So Beautiful…Just looking like a Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow!,” read the caption.

Here, have a look at the viral video:

Since being uploaded, the video has gathered nearly 50K views. “Bangalore is a ‘Silicon Slum’ spawning unicorns on crumbling roads. But with the right leaders, not bound by any party lines, we can become a global force. It’s time for change. We have been let down for the last 10 years,” commented an ‘X’ user. Another person wrote, “The kind of treatment Sarjapur road gets, it feels it’s not in Bengaluru/Karnataka but in some other state. While flats cost here 1cr+ and 2bhk rent reached 40k.”

One ‘X’ user wrote, “Jungle Safari wali feeling. See the brighter side: money and time saved from visiting national parks and getting that same experience in your backyard. Kudos to Karnataka Govt and BBMP. Guess the leopard (so unfortunate) also thought so looking at Bangalore city roads.”

Meanwhile, earlier, one techie took it upon himself to get rid of all these potholes. If reports are to be believed, a 32-year-old techie is tried to improvise the road infrastructure by starting a campaign called

“NoDevelopmentNoTax”. It is aimed at boycotting payment of property tax due to sub-standard roads in Bengaluru.

Recognised as Arif Mudgal, the man explained that he saw two accidents happen in the Hosa Road area in the eastern part of Bengaluru. This is what prompted him to take measures to fix the pothole problems in the city.
