Residents Of Panjikal Village In Karnataka Capture 12-feet Long Rattlesnake

Snakes, often considered among the planet’s most perilous reptiles, possess an uncanny ability to slip into the most unexpected and elusive spots, frequently catching people off guard. These serpents have a knack for lurking in places like shoes, beneath couches, and even toilet seats, where they can deliver quite a fright. They are naturally drawn to cooler hiding spots, allowing them to remain undetected for extended periods. Recently, an incident involving a rattlesnake near a house led to a challenging capture operation, providing a glimpse into the dramatic encounter.

In the Dakshin Kannad District of Karnataka, specifically in the Panjikal village, an imposing rattlesnake, typically found in the Western Ghats, was discovered dangerously close to a residence.

The house’s owner, Rohini, had an alarming encounter as she returned from her garden. Something brushed against her leg, prompting her to look down and discover the terrifying presence of the snake. In a state of panic, she swiftly retreated to the safety of her house.

Residents promptly summoned a skilled snake handler, Kiran, to tackle the situation. Assisting him in the operation were forest department officials Cyril Acharipalike and Dheeraj Nemuru. The endeavour to capture the formidable rattlesnake was marked by considerable difficulty, as the serpent measured a staggering 12 feet in length. Eventually, after a protracted struggle, the rattlesnake was successfully captured and subsequently released safely into its natural forest habitat.

Nevertheless, the snake handler’s technique during the operation sparked a mix of reactions among locals. Some expressed apprehension and disapproval of his methods, deeming them unsettling. Kiran employed a long bag to contain the snake, and reports indicated that the serpent even attempted to escape from the bag after being placed inside, creating a tense and potentially perilous situation.

Interestingly, a similar incident unfolded in Mesa, Arizona, USA, just days earlier. A resident of Mesa discovered approximately three rattlesnakes in his garage and promptly summoned a rescue team. To their astonishment, upon arrival, the rescue team realized that the garage was harbouring not three but a staggering 20 rattlesnakes.
