CLAT 2024: Bengaluru Boy Beats His Teacher, Secure 2nd Rank
Both accomplished identical scores, but it was Pradhyot’s performance in the legal section that propelled him to the runner-up position.

The results of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2024 unveiled an extraordinary achievement as Pradhyot Shah, a class 12 student from Mallya Aditi International School, secured the coveted second position. What adds a unique dimension to this success story is that Pradhyot outshone his mentor, Rahul Pulakurthy of Career Launcher in Indira Nagar, who secured the third rank. Both accomplished identical scores, but it was Pradhyot’s performance in the legal section that propelled him to the runner-up position.

Pradhyot Shah, speaking to the Times of India, expressed his disbelief at matching scores with his teacher, saying, “I cannot believe that I have scored as much as Rahul sir. He is simply excellent in what he does.”

In an interview with TOI, Rahul explained that he participates in exams to enhance his teaching strategies and stay current with evolving exam patterns. He emphasized the unpredictability of competitive exams, emphasising the importance of the right approach to succeed within the given timeframe. Rahul highlighted that taking such tests also provides teachers with an opportunity for introspection, enabling them to evaluate and refine their teaching methods based on students’ responses.

Pradhyot foresees a future in the field of law, underscoring the transformative impact lawyers can have on the lives of citizens. In contrast, his teacher views the examination as a chance to enhance and fine-tune his teaching strategies.

Pradhyot, the son of architect parents, now faces the decision of choosing between NLSIU Bangalore and NLU Delhi for his further studies.

In addition to the Bengaluru duo’s exceptional performance, a candidate from Rajasthan secured a perfect 100 percentile in the CLAT UG exam (5 years integrated BA-LLB). Simultaneously, a candidate from Delhi claimed the top position in the CLAT PG exam (LLM) with a 99.99 percentile. Notably, six candidates achieved the fifth rank with a 99.96 percentile, two of whom hail from Uttar Pradesh.

The CLAT is a nationwide entrance exam that serves as a centralized gateway to admission to 22 national law universities across India. The exam, conducted on Sunday, December 3, took place at 139 test centres across 25 states and 4 union territories in India. Following the results, shortlisted candidates can register for the admission cum counselling process starting on December 12, concluding on December 22, 2023.
