In a bizarre incident, a man from Bengaluru won Rs 1 lakh compensation from an Apple India service centre after they had allegedly caused damage to his device. The man owned an iPhone 13. Recognised as 30-year-old Awez Khan, the man is a resident of Frazer Town. He bought an iPhone 13 in October 2021 with a year long warranty. A few months later, he started facing several with the battery and the speaker. In August 2022, he went to the service centre in Indiranagar seeking help.
Awez was told that the issue was fixable and he would get his phone back in one week’s time. In a matter of a few days, he got a call saying the issue had been fixed and he could come and take his iPhone.

When he went to the service centre to collect his phone, he found out that the iPhone was still not functioning normally.
The service centre said that they would have a look at the device again. However, they did not respond back to Khan for two weeks.
Later, he was informed that a glue-like substance had been found on the device’s outer mesh. Also, fixing the issue would not fall under the one-year warranty.
