The Japanese carmaker Toyota is gearing up to set up a new manufacturing plant in India, which will give a big boost to its overall production. It has been reported that the brand has chosen Karnataka as its third facility base, and has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government.
The latest manufacturing plant will kickstart its operation in 2026. The move will not only push the production capacity, but will also help to reduce the overall waiting period on vehicles.
Toyota New Manufacturing Plant Investment
Toyota’s third manufacturing unit will share a close location with the existing unit, which is at Bidadi near Bangalore. To make it big in terms of production, the company is investing a big chunk of Rs 3,300 crore, which will the market and customers by providing more than 1 lakh units every year.
The step will also generate employment in the state, providing thousands of jobs to people.
Upcoming Toyota 3-row SUV
Meanwhile, it has been reported that the company will be shifting the major focus to develop its upcoming 3-row SUV at the facility. The vehicle will be based on the TNGA-C platform, and will be an updated avatar of the Corolla Cross, which is only available in the international market.
