Special Edition Triumph Trident 660 Is Here: What’s New?

Triumph Motorcycles has unveiled the special edition of Trident 660 – Trident Triple Tribute.

This special edition pays tribute to the original Slippery Sam 750 cc Trident race bike, which made Triumph win several short circuit races and five consecutive races at the Isle of Man TT in the 1970s.

The new limited edition livery is now available in the UK and does not come with a price increase over the Trident 660’s base pricing. The Trident Triple Tribute has a unique paint job that consists of shiny blue and white with hints of red as reported by Autocar.

Interestingly, it has the graphic for the number 67 on both sides and the top of the tank. Mechanically, the special edition Triumph Trident 660 retains the same liquid-cooled, 660cc, inline three-cylinder engine that produces 81 bhp and 64Nm of torque.

Now equipped with a bidirectional quick shifter—an optional addition in the original version—it has a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle’s tubular frame is supported by a Showa USD fork and a mono-shock with preload adjustment, and it is braking handled by two 310mm front discs and one 255mm rear disc.

The Trident is equipped with a few riding aids, which can be accessed through the colour TFT display. These include two riding modes (Road and Rain). Additional features include auto-cancelling indicators, all-LED lighting, and turn-by-turn navigation.

The British marque Triumph India has been steadily adding new models to its catalogue, and the most potent of them all is the Rocket 3 Storm R, GT. With a price tag of Rs 8.12 lakh, ex-showroom in India, Triumph’s basic Trident 660 is the most affordable large-capacity motorbike available.

The Tribute edition costs the same as the regular Trident in the UK, but it’s unclear if that pattern will hold true in India.

In April 2021, Triumph India unveiled the Trident 660, their most affordable motorcycle in the country, priced at Rs 6,95,000 (introductory, ex-showroom).

The Triumph Trident 660 is propelled mechanically by a brand-new, 660cc liquid-cooled inline three-cylinder engine that complies with Euro 5/BS6 regulations.

It produces 64 Nm at 6,250 rpm and 81 bhp at 10,250 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox that has a slipper and assist clutch.
