In a recent announcement, NHAI officials revealed a new entry point near Crossings Republik, aimed at simplifying commutes between National Highway 9 and Delhi Meerut Expressway (DME).
This move is expected to greatly benefit commuters from Crossings Republik, Greater Noida West, and Ghaziabad City, facilitating smoother journeys to Delhi via DME.
Ghaziabad’s DME features three inner lanes on each side designated as expressway lanes, while the outer four lanes on each side serve as highway lanes, known as National Highway 9 (NH9), as reported by Hindustan Times.
The new entry point, along with a proposed exit, is part of a project initiated by NHAI, estimated to cost around Rs 9.5 crore. Construction commenced on the ground in February, with the new entry situated approximately 500 meters from the Crossings Republik Township road junction.
An NHAI official, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated, “Now, commuters from Crossings Republik and Greater Noida West can access NH9 lanes and seamlessly transition to expressway lanes for their journey to Delhi. Additionally, work is underway for an exit from the expressway to NH9 on the opposite side of the new entry, expected to be completed within the next fortnight.”
Prior to this development, there was no provision for vehicle entry from NH9 to expressway lanes near Crossings Republik. Commuters previously resorted to traveling some distance on the wrong side of NH9 before entering expressway lanes, posing risks and traffic issues.
With the introduction of the new entry point, commuters can now travel directly on NH9 towards Delhi for approximately 500 meters before effortlessly accessing the expressway. This alleviates congestion issues previously encountered, particularly near Sector-62, Noida, for vehicles bound for Delhi via NH9.
Phase 2 of the DME project extends from Ghaziabad’s UP-Gate to Dasna, providing commuters with a six-lane dedicated expressway to Meerut. Notably, the expressway lanes are tolled, offering improved connectivity for travelers.
