Hyundai is all set to unveil the facelifted version of its popular Creta model in India on January 16, 2024, according to an invitation teasing the event as part of the “Block Your Date” campaign.
While the refreshed Creta has already made its debut in select international markets, the Indian variant promises to stand out with region-specific modifications and a unique design.
Contrary to the facelift introduced in certain global markets, the Indian version of the Hyundai Creta is expected to showcase a distinctive design in line with the company’s latest design language. This new approach, characterised by squarish design elements, is evident in recent models like the Santa Fe and Exter.
The Creta facelift for the Indian market is set to incorporate these fresh design features, including H-shaped DRLs, changes across the front grille, front and rear bumpers, tail lamps, and a new set of alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, the Creta facelift will receive updates such as an overhauled dashboard and a new design for the AC vents. The SUV will boast a new horizontally-placed panoramic display, featuring dual 10.25-inch displays for the infotainment system and digital instrument console. Expect changes to upholstery and interior theme options to enhance the overall driving experience.
Under the hood, the Creta facelift will introduce a new powertrain option—a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, already featured in the Seltos facelift. This engine, the most powerful in the Creta/Seltos lineup, generates 160 bhp of maximum power and 253 Nm of peak torque, with transmission options including 6iMT and 7DCT.
Safety features will receive a significant upgrade, with the introduction of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a 360 degree camera. The ADAS kit, similar to the one in the Seltos facelift, includes blind spot collision warning and avoidance assist, forward collision warning and avoidance assist, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, leading vehicle departure alert, smart cruise control with stop and go, high beam assist, driver attention warning, rear cross-traffic collision warning and avoidance assist, and safe exit warning.
With these updates, the Creta facelift is expected to witness a slight increase in prices. The current model starts at Rs 10.87 lakh, while the top-spec variant is priced at Rs 19.20 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom). It remains to be seen if Hyundai will reveal the prices on January 16 or at a later date.
The Creta facelift will continue to compete with rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, and MG Astor. Additionally, new rivals such as the upcoming Tata Curvv and Mahindra XUV500 will enter the fray.
In addition to the Creta unveiling, Hyundai is also gearing up to implement a price hike across its lineup, with models like Venue, Exter, i20, i10 NIOS, and Alcazar expected to become 1-2 percent more expensive.
