German carmaker BMW has been successful in the motorcycle segment as well. Over the years, they have launched many superbikes that have performed well in the market.
Recently, BMW Motorrad introduced the all-new M 1000 XR in India. It is available at a price of Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom).
One of the highlights of this new bike is that it is equipped with the M Competition Package. It is available as a complete built-up unit (CBU) in India and the company has started accepting bookings for the bike.
Here’s a look at its main features and variants:
The BMW M 1000 XR is a litre-class touring bike that comes with an aggressive semi-fairing with dual LED headlamps and a pair of M winglets. These additions are said to generate 12 kg of downforce at 220 km/h. The M Competition package of the BMW Motorrad M 1000 XR features M Carbon wheels, a carbon rear wheel cover with an integrated chain guard, carbon side panels, adjustable M footrests, ignition and steering lockover in carbon, and a lap timer. It has been found that this M package feature has reduced the weight of the bike by 3 kg.
The BMW M 1000 XR is powered by a modified 999cc inline 4-cylinder engine from the S 1000 RR superbike. It produces 201 bhp at 12,750 rpm and 113 Nm at 11,000 rpm. The engine is equipped with a 6-speed gearbox and a bi-directional quick-shifter. The bike has the ability to reach 0–100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 278 km/h. The M 1000 XR rides on a fully adjustable 45 mm upside-down fork at the front and a mono-shock at the rear. Braking is handled by twin 320 mm discs at the front and a single 265 mm disc at the rear.
The M 1000 XR has five riding modes: rain, road, dynamic, race and race pro. It also has a pit lane limiter, launch control, dynamic traction control, wheelie control, ABS, slide control, dynamic brake control, shift assistant pro, automatic hill start control and adaptive headlights. It also comes with a TFT screen, a USB charging port, heated grips, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and an M battery.
