'Our Legend': Arsenal Fans React to Thierry Henry's Jibe at Spurs During FIFA's Award Ceremony
Thierry Henry had the best reaction after accepting Lione Messi honour at the FIFA Awards.

French football icon Thierry Henry couldn’t help but take a dig at Tottenham Hotspur at The Best FIFA Football Awards 2023. The FIFA award ceremony was held in London on January 15 with Henry co-hosting the show alongside Reshmin Chowdhury. While accepting the award for the Best Men’s Player of 2023 on behalf of an absent Lionel Messi, Henry rekindled his historic rivalry with Spurs with his comment. Social media users uploaded posts.

The French icon’s comments have sparked several reactions from football fans across the world. One fan hilariously remarked, “Damn. Spurs taking a random L even in situations that have got nothing to do with them.”

Another Arsenal fan said, “Our legend. Still dunking on Spurs off the pitch.”

In a reply, an individual highlighted that Henry was and always will be a Gunner. “A real Gunner through and through”.

A Tottenham fan seemed to hit back at the comment suggesting, “That is an international trophy. Something Arsenal doesn’t know about”.

One fan felt that it was an uncalled for attack on his cohost and the footballer shouldn’t have said something so embarrassing. “That’s quite an embarrassing thing to say on his part. It was uncalled for,” the fan wrote.

The Best FIFA Football Awards 2023 saw Lionel Messi retain his crown as the world’s best men’s player. The Inter Miami footballer was tied for the award with Manchester City striker Erling Haaland at 48 points. However, the World Cup winner was able to win the tie-break to seal an eighth FIFA Player of the Year award. Paris Saint-Germain stalwart Kylian Mbappe rounded up the top three nominees for the Men’s award. The night saw Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati take the women’s award for best player in 2023 after winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup with Spain and the 2022-23 Women’s Champions League.

Pep Guardiola won the Best FIFA Men’s Coach award for guiding Manchester City to a historic treble while Sarina Wiegman took home the Women’s Coach award after leading England in the Women’s World Cup final, and the Women’s Finalissima and the Arnold Clark Cup trophies. The FIFA Special Award was won by Brazilian icon Marta for her illustrious career.
