However, the World Cup winner was able to win the tie-break to seal an eighth FIFA Player of the Year award. Paris Saint-Germain stalwart Kylian Mbappe rounded up the top three nominees for the Men’s award. The night saw Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati take the women’s award for best player in 2023 after winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup with Spain and the 2022-23 Women’s Champions League.
Pep Guardiola won the Best FIFA Men’s Coach award for guiding Manchester City to a historic treble while Sarina Wiegman took home the Women’s Coach award after leading England in the Women’s World Cup final, and the Women’s Finalissima and the Arnold Clark Cup trophies. The FIFA Special Award was won by Brazilian icon Marta for her illustrious career.
