Imran Khan, PTI Put Country's Security at Risk, Created Rift in Army, Finds Pakistan Parliamentary Panel
A probe committee set up by Parliament has found serious evidence that the PTI and former PM Imran Khan hatched a conspiracy to defame the army and its institutions

A parliamentary panel has found that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan’s party, put the country’s security at risk and caused a rift in the army during attacks on military installations on May 9 last year.

According to top sources close to the establishment, a probe committee set up by Parliament has found serious evidence against the PTI and the Imran Khan-led government. It said they hatched a conspiracy to defame the army and its institutions.

The panel was recently formed and is likely to submit its report soon. Sources said the report shows that the attack was not sudden, but well coordinated.

The panel took all the reports by central agencies into consideration before reaching a conclusion, sources said. They added that the committee will not only submit a report about the May 9 attacks, but also give a detailed account of how to avoid such incidents in future.

Sources further said the panel’s report shows that the conspiracy was planned and executed with the help and advice of local as well as foreign elements. Agencies have not ruled out that this was done to test the waters before Khan’s arrest as well as to see how the public reacted.

Earlier, CNN-News18 had reported that the army courts are also ready with their verdict that Khan masterminded last year’s May 9 attacks.

Top sources said the verdict is based on accounts by eyewitnesses who have given statements against the 71-year-old cricketer-turned-politician.

Cases against more than 100 people have already concluded and, in all these cases, it has emerged that the PTI founder was the mastermind of the violence.

In these cases, at least 90 percent of the people have been found to be guilty and instigated by Khan. The establishment is taking this seriously and harsh punishment will be doled out.

Sources have said the judgments are not being pronounced yet and are likely to be clubbed with the verdict of the military courts. Once the Supreme Court of Pakistan gives permission, these courts will issue their decisions, sources added.
