Hair fall problems are a nightmare for everyone. While the root cause of it may depend on underlying health conditions or nutrient deficiency, Ayurvedic measures have often been a go-to for the majority of Indians. Something similar happened with a US woman of Indian origin. She tested out an experiment which stopped her hair fall and today, she has beautiful and long locks. She shared her secret on Instagram, which has garnered much attention.
Seerat Saini lives in the United States of America. She often shares her love for her Punjabi heritage, hair growth, fashion and beauty on social media like TikTok and Instagram. In 2019, Seerat lost about half of her hair. So, she made it her mission to grow it back and was successful by using some age-old techniques- Ayurvedic Hair Massage, which has roots in Indian Ayurvedic medicine. She shared a video of a hair loss guide for “non-wash days”.
One of the first points she mentioned is to do the Ayurvedic hair massage daily. She showed the three-finger massage exercise that can stimulate hair growth. She showed the three specific points on her scalp which she massaged. The first place is eight fingers above the brow line and demonstrated the technique. This is great for receding hairline or bald spots near the forehead. The second massage point is 12 fingers above the eyebrows, the skull space, which is the highest point of the body. The third point is four fingers above the nape.
The video has garnered above 2 lakh views on Instagram. A part of her caption reads, “I quietly restarted my hair growth journey and yes, I did document every step of the way. And now, I want to again share what worked for me and what did not. Currently, my spot has grown about 12 inches and my hair fall is extremely minimal. I am NOT a doctor and I just want to talk about my journey but please consult a doctor if you’re experiencing balding / hair loss.”
Apart from this, she urged her followers to avoid applying heat to their hair daily. She instead pushed everyone to try out heatless methods of styling hair. She warns against donning a tight slick hairstyle and instead asks everyone to opt for a low pony to cause less strain on hair. She further added that while sleeping, it’s best to put the hair into loose braids to avoid too much friction with the pillow. Seerat also suggested the use of silk pillowcases and bonnets to take care of the hair.
