In January, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced a massive 8.6 billion dollar budget dedicated to solving global health issues.

Bill Gates and his ex-wife Melinda Gates are easily some of the most renowned philanthropists in the world. At a time when many parts of the world are experiencing active war and mass displacement, there is very little good happening in the world. It is easy to get into a pessimistic mood after reading the news of political conflict and unrest, which automatically leads to the de-prioritisation of healthcare initiatives. However, the former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates begs to differ. The 68-year-old billionaire believes reaching milestone achievements is possible, even in tough circumstances.

Recently, Gates was in the German Capital Berlin. In a video, Gates is joined by several youngsters who put out hopeful posters about all that is going well in the world. Gates and his youthful team put out encouraging posters that say: Child mortality has been cut in half, Every 1 dollar invested in health; brings a 54 dollar return, HIV infections fell by almost 1 / 3, Investing in women’s health boosts the world economy by up to 1 trillion dollars.

While sharing this clip, Gates wrote, “In Berlin, I got to work with my friends from ONE to spread the word about some amazing news of global health progress. When it comes to fighting disease, saving lives, and lifting people out of poverty, there are few tools more powerful than developmental cooperation.”

This video comes months after the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced a massive 8.6 billion dollar budget dedicated to solving global health issues. This was the foundation’s largest annual budget to date.

As per a press note on the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, this increased budget comes at a time when “overall aid spending has levelled off, sub-Saharan African countries saw a nearly 8% decline in aid in 2022, even as they face growing needs and shrinking budgets.”

Melinda Gates said, “An investment in global health is an investment in our future. When the world puts money behind proven solutions, it builds stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities for generations to come. With low-income countries facing a whole host of challenges, now is the right time to recommit to saving lives and improving livelihoods.”

According to Forbes, as of May 1, Bill Gates is the ninth richest individual in the world with a real-time net worth of 128.9 billion dollars. He dropped the ranks after putting over 59 billion dollars in donations.
