An eight-year-old girl in Ohio, US, took her parents’ car on an unexpected adventure after deciding to go shopping at the local Target store by herself. According to reports, she managed to drive the SUV for an astonishing 10 miles (approximately 16 km) for 25 minutes before arriving at her destination. A dashcam video from another vehicle has since gone viral on social media, showing the little girl swerving across lanes. At one point, she even hit a mailbox on her way to the store. Fortunately, she was found by the local people in time and no one got injured in the incident. The video has tickled the funny bones of internet users and received hundreds of reactions on social media.
Concerned about her reckless driving, a fellow motorist, Justin Kimery, called 911, believing he was witnessing reckless driving by an adult as per the New York Post. “There’s a guy in a car, he’s like right behind me. He’s swerving all over, he’s swerving everywhere like in all the lanes,” Kimery said, as per the report. Initially, he didn’t not realise that the young girl was actually behind the wheel.”
A few seconds later, Kimrey added, “It looks like a kid. What the f*** is this kid doing?” while talking to the operator.

According to the Bedford Police, the determined young driver made the journey after taking her mother’s 2020 Nissan Rouge without permission. As per the outlet, the police received a call from her worried parents reporting their daughter missing, shortly before the SUV was spotted miles away. A neighbour’s security camera had recorded the girl climbing into the vehicle alone, setting off a chain of events that would have local authorities scrambling to locate her.
The report also noted that the girl had $400 (nearly Rs 33,500) with her and used it to shop around at Target. Police made sure she returned safely to her parents after the adventure. She wasn’t charged due to her age. No one was injured in the ordeal.
Eventually, the Bainbridge Township police found her in the parking lot of Target, where she was happily shopping, a Frappuccino in hand. In a light-hearted Facebook post, Bedford Police remarked, “Well I’ve finally found a woman who’s in more of a hurry to shop at Target than my wife. More of hurry by 8 years. That’s right an 8 year old took mommy’s car this morning and drove to Target in Bainbridge to shop. Thankfully she made it and was immediately located by Bainbridge Police. She’s now home safe. Not sure what she bought, or if she was even able to use her Target app to save 5%. We did let her finish her Frappuccino. We’re not mean.”
The incident quickly became a source of amusement for everyone, with the comment section buzzing with a variety of reactions.
One user jokingly remarked, “She should run for President in 2056, as soon as she’s eligible. This is a leader.”

Meanwhile, on Bedford Police’s post, a user admitted, “I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty impressed. There’s some adults that can’t manage that drive on their own, let alone only hitting a mailbox.”
Another added, “Just a girl in the world and sometimes you need retail therapy at Target. No one was hurt. This post is great.”
