Viral: Mother-Daughter Duo Flee from Stray Dog Attack In Chandigarh, Meet With Accident

WIn a recent incident reported from Sector 38 in Chandigarh, a mother and her daughter had a harrowing experience when they found themselves being pursued by a group of stray dogs. The situation took a dramatic turn as the duo, fearing an imminent dog attack, sought refuge in a nearby house, resulting in an unintended collision and a subsequent fall. The incident, captured on video and shared on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) by local journalist Gagandeep Singh, unfolded on an empty street in Sector 38. In the footage, three stray dogs can be seen chasing a scooter, ridden by a mother and her daughter. Fearing for their safety, the rider made a split-second decision to seek shelter in a nearby residence.

As the two-wheeler hastily entered the house, fenced by potted plants, the dogs surprisingly halted their pursuit and nonchalantly walked away in the opposite direction. The sudden stop, however, caused the scooter to collide with parked cycles inside the premises, leading to the mother and daughter losing balance and falling to the ground. The entire incident was captured by the CCTV camera of the residence, providing a detailed account of the events.

Singh identified the two women in the video as a mother and daughter duo, highlighting the potential dangers faced by residents due to the increasing number of stray dogs in the city.

The incident comes against the backdrop of a significant surge in stray dog attacks in Chandigarh. Recent reports indicate that the city witnessed over 10,000 cases of such attacks in 2023, marking a drastic increase from the previous year’s figure of around 5,000 reported cases, according to the report by The Free Press Journal.

Earlier, in the Powai area of Mumbai, a pack of stray dogs reportedly assaulted a postman during his regular delivery rounds. A brief 16-second video captured the alarming scene, depicting around five dogs surrounding the postman and launching an aggressive attack.

Luckily, the situation took a turn for the better due to the prompt action of a vigilant security guard nearby. The guard successfully dispersed the ferocious dogs, averting what could have been a potentially serious incident. His intervention ensured the postal worker’s safety by preventing any harm.
