The families in the village kept the charpoys as a remembrance of their ancestors.

The village of Nagla Bandh, located in the Bharatpur District of Rajasthan, is known for maintaining their ancestral heritage. In this village, we can find unique cots or charpoys (traditional woven beds) that are huge in size. There are charpoys in the village that weigh around 300 kgs and can accommodate around 8 people. The village consists of 125 houses. Another bizarre fact is that all the members of the village are members of one single family. In an interview with Local 18, a villager mentioned that their ancestors belonged from the Bayana Tehsil in Rajasthan. He mentioned that their ancestor Chande Kasana, who made these beds, was considered as a leader of the area.

Chande Kasana always promoted brotherhood among the people of the village. When asked about the history of the charpoys, the localite mentioned that more than a hundred years ago, Chande Kasana travelled to Nagla Bandh in order to establish their own village as they had a big family. As a token of love, he gifted 6 charpoys to his 6 sons in the year 1920. He mentioned that the charpoys approximately weigh 300 kg and they are still in existence. The families kept the charpoys with care as a remembrance of their ancestors.

He stated in the interview that the charpoys or the cots are so large that they can easily fit around 7 to 8 people. The strength of the charpoys are still the same till date. The village consists of the families of the six sons who were gifted with the charpoys by their father. The 125 families still share the same bonding even today. He mentioned that these heavy charpoys are rarely found elsewhere, as they were specially made by Chande Kasana. Today, people from various places visit the village to see those large charpoys or traditionally woven beds.
