A type of paratha from West Bengal has piqued the interest of online users. It is famously known as 'Pitai paratha' and is quite a delicacy in the state but the latest clip is being met by hilarious reactions by the internet users.

Soft and fluffy parathas are a common sight on a breakfast table in an Indian household. They are made with a variety of ingredients and flour in different parts of the country. While the universal aloo paratha is filled with a delectable spiced potato mixture, the seasonal gobhi paratha is filled with cauliflower. Some use maida as the base while most prefer atta to keep it healthy. Amid the already bustling range of choices in parathas, another type of paratha from West Bengal has piqued the interest of online users. It is famously known as “Pitai paratha” and is quite a delicacy in the state but the latest clip is being met by hilarious reactions by netizens. What’s more even Swiggy could not resist commenting.

In the Instagram video shared by food vlogger Saurabh Birari, we can observe a street vendor making this one-of-a-kind paratha by hand. He beats the cooked paratha on a flat surface continuously with his bare hands until it’s totally crumpled.

The clip has since accumulated over 5.3 million views. Additionally, the video has received several comments, including one from the food delivery app Swiggy. The food app, via its social media handle, joked, “Paratha be like: mujhe kyu toda?”

The technique used to make this unique paratha made some people wonder, “What it ever do to you bro?” “Beating that like it owes him money.”

There were some who joked that he turned the cooked meal back into its dough form again, “Bhai ne phirse aata bana diya,” “You chewed it for me. Thanks.”

A user also renamed the dish from Pitai Paratha to “Pitai karate.”

Another user made a keen observation and hilarious remarked that the street vendor came into the wrong profession. The user wrote, “Bhaiya ko dhobi banna tha papa ne thela pakda diya.”

There were some who said it was more like a criminal offence to beat the dish. A user said, “Cooking? No murdering,“ while another commented, “Bro be careful the police are coming because you killed poratta..you are accused of parotta murder.”

While there are a slew of hilarious comments, some also raise questions about the hygiene standard. “Eww no thanks..sweat, heat, dust and dirt. Is it a sin to wear plastic gloves in India?” wrote one. Another sarcastically commented, “Did you know his hands are sweating and he is smacking the bread with his sweaty hands.”
