Scared Of Living Alone? Bengaluru Entrepreneur Highlights Its 'Greatest Perk'
"Five months of solo living and the greatest perk is that if you don't mess up your house, nobody does," said co-founder of fintech company Salt.

Living alone is often seen as a significant milestone of independence in adulthood. There are both downsides and upsides to living alone. Recently, a Bengaluru-based entrepreneur shared a post that listed the “greatest perk” about solo living. Udita Pal, the co-founder of fintech company Salt, shared a set of images from her 3-BHK penthouse near Bengaluru’s Indiranagar and wrote, “Perks of living alone? My house has looked like this since Friday morning. Five months of solo living and the greatest perk is that if you don’t mess up your house, nobody does.”

This post soon went viral with over 1.5 lakh views, since it was shared on May 26. In the comments, many people appreciated Udita Pal’s cosy, warm and organised-looking home. The 28-year-old had decorated her space with fairy lights, stacks of books and trinkets.

Commenting on it, an X user wrote, “People saying that it looks messy, cluttered or unorganised. Imo this right here, every corner, every single thing has a story behind it. I would be proud too, to put all of my stuff on display and be reminded of every little memory that’s attached with things.”

Another person observed the decorations at Pal’s house and wrote, “Love the Marvel omnibuses and the Tolkien series! You should definitely add a couple of Funko pops to the collection.”

Someone else wrote, “I think the slight “imperfections” make it look like a home and not some generic “Fully Furnished Home 2bhk (No Lift)”. Nice place Udita!”

Udita Pal told Moneycontrol that she bought her house close to Baiyappanahalli metro station two years ago. Just six months ago she was living with flatmates, one of whom was the second co-founder of her company. Her co-founder moved out after getting married which left her alone in the whole apartment.

Initially, she would feel scared living alone but eventually got used to it and now enjoys it. Pal said, “I have a sense of liberty and freedom when I live here by myself. There is also a difference between living alone and being alone; a lot of people don’t understand that.”

Talking about the safety precautions that she has in place as a single woman living alone, she revealed, “I have cameras, motion detectors, and a specially trained dog to protect myself,” she said. “It is scary sometimes, but I really love living alone, when you respect your place, others do it as well.”
