Losing something valuable is tough, but it’s even harder when that item holds a sentimental value. Such is the case for Abhay Chaugule, a Pune resident whose stolen scooter represents more than just a means of transportation— it was the last memory of his late mother. After his black Activa was stolen on Dussehra near the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue in Kothrud, Abhay turned to social media to make a heartfelt appeal. He hoped the public could assist him in finding the vehicle. His plea quickly went viral, with many users re-sharing his post and expressing their support.
The scooter, purchased by Abhay’s late mother before she passed away from cancer, holds immense emotional value for him. His father had also died two years earlier due to COVID-19, making the scooter one of his last connections to both parents. Despite searching the nearby areas, Abhay couldn’t find the scooter and ultimately decided to file a police complaint.
While standing on JM Road, Abhay held a placard detailing his stolen scooter’s registration number. He conveyed the deep emotional value of the scooter, mentioning that it holds special significance as his mother’s last memory. In a surprising twist, he even offered to buy the thieves a new vehicle in exchange.
“My black Activa MH14B6036 was stolen on Dussehra, it’s my mother’s last memory. Please help me find it. 9766617464,” read one placard, while on the other he wrote, “Humble request to the thief who stole my Activa, my mother bought this after a lot of hard work. It’s her last memory, please return it. I will buy you a new vehicle, but please give back my mother’s scooter.”
Even in the caption, Abhay shared his contact details, writing, “Plz help me find My BLACK ACTIVA MH14BZ6036. It was stollen from Kothrud on Dassara Night. Plz contact me on 9766617464 or DM on this id @abhayanjuu #activa #blackactivamissing.”
