'Gambhir After Politics': Photos of KKR Coach Hugging Kohli, Dhoni in IPL 2024 Heal Fans
Gautam Gambhir hugging Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni in IPL 2024 has cricket fans elated. Here's what they are saying about the KKR coach's evolution.

Gautam Gambhir, renowned for his fierce, competitive spirit on the cricket field, appears to be mellowing out in the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), much to the disbelief of cricket fans. The transformation in his demeanour became evident recently when, as the KKR coach, he displayed a whole new personality. This change was underscored when he greeted MS Dhoni with a smile and embraced him after CSK’s victory over KKR by seven wickets.

This unexpected interaction was significant for fans, considering their previously strained relationship. Gambhir had been critical of Dhoni on various issues, particularly with regard to the latter’s prominence following the 2011 World Cup win.

However, this was not the only instance of Gambhir shedding his stoic persona, which had become a subject of memes until last year. During a recent RCB vs KKR match on March 29, Gambhir and Virat Kohli shared a moment that captivated the internet. They embraced each other after the second timeout break of the first innings, signalling the end of the discord between them stemming from a heated exchange in Lucknow last season, which had caused a stir in world cricket.

As the former KKR captain reconciled with his Indian counterparts not once, but twice during IPL 2024, the internet couldn’t help but marvel at Gambhir’s positive evolution since stepping away from politics and devoting himself to cricket.

“Politics se bahar nikalte hi yeh aadmi pura badal gaya hai yaar. Absolutely loving GG’s attitude,” remarked one user on ‘X.’ “Gambhir turned from a cactus to a rose. Quitting politics can truly heal a person,” echoed another.

Gambhir, who previously served as the Lok Sabha MP from East Delhi, announced his decision to step away from politics ahead of this year’s IPL to concentrate on coaching Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). And fans are jumping for joy to see Gambhir hitting his stride, coaching KKR, and leaving his ‘Gambhir’ face in the past. It’s like watching a master batsman crafting a new innings—this time, off the field!
