Did the Umpire Ignore Jasprit Bumrah At Post-Match Handshake Session? Well, This Video Claims So
Presenting an impressive all-rounder performance, Team India has made its way to the T20 World Cup final by beating England.

Despite the incessant rain and the tricky pitch, there was no stopping Rohit Sharma and his men from heading into the final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Looking forward to fulfilling its quest for a World Cup title after a long wait of 11 years, India defeated England in the second semi-final match by 68 runs on Thursday, seemingly also avenging their 2022 loss. While batters Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav’s 73-run partnership took India past the 100-run mark, their bowling lineup took care of the rest.

India’s spinners, led by Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Jasprit Bumrah, wreaked havoc on England, bowling them out for 103 runs in 16.4 overs. While the match had its own share of thrills, drama, and epic action, one particular moment has now caught the internet’s attention.

In a video captured during the post-match handshaking session, Bumrah was seemingly ignored by the umpire, while the pacer was right next to them. While Bumrah continued extending his hand, the umpire constantly avoided him. At one moment, he even turned to the bowler but went on to shake hands with the other players.

Though the umpire eventually shook hands with him.

Shared by one of the viewers last night, the video has gone viral, sparking diverse reactions from users. While some found the instance funny, a few felt bad for Bumrah. A user wrote, “Ah. It hurts to watch this.”

Another user quipped, “blud waited there for so long.”

A user joked, “Just see Bumrah’s determination. Whether it is a wicket or a handshake, he will definitely take it.”

A user couldn’t help but relate to the situation and wrote, “Bumrah is so me..”I, too get caught up in these awkward situations.”

It is pertinent to note that Bumrah has been leading the bowling attack of Team India in the ongoing tournament. So far, he has picked up 11 wickets in just 23 overs in the 2024 edition.

What Happened During India vs. England Semis?

After winning the toss, England chose to field first. Remaining under pressure after Virat Kohli’s dismissal in the third over followed by Rishabh Pant, the Men in Blue slowly gained traction, thanks to Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma’s epic partnership. After their wickets in the 14th and 16th overs, respectively, India set a target of 171 runs.

On the other hand, England lost its way quite early, losing major wickets of Joss Buttler, Phil Salt, and Jonny Bairstow in the Powerplay. Later, the rest were bowled out for just 103.

India will play in the T20 World Cup finals against South Africa on Saturday, June 29.
