Following the monumental victory, Jannik Sinner was greeted by Golden State Warriors legend Stephen Curry.

NBA icon Stephen Curry was elated to meet US Open champion Jannik Sinner. The Italian tennis sensation got the better of Taylor Fritz at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in the men’s singles final on September 8. Sinner was on another level on the big day as he won the match 6-3, 6-4, 7-5. Following the monumental victory, Sinner was greeted by Golden State Warriors legend Curry. The official US Open Tennis account shared a glimpse of the meet-up on X (formerly Twitter) along with a caption that read, “Stephen Curry stopped by the US Open, and of course, he had a tennis-inspired basketball.”

The video begins with Stephen Curry and Jannik Sinner shaking hands. The star athletes were overwhelmed to see each other with the Italian asking Curry how he was doing. Sinner then congratulated the Basketball icon on winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Curry asked Sinner if he could sign a ball for him to which the Italian agreed almost instantaneously. They posed for a picture next with both having wide grins on their faces.

In the later portion of the clip, Stephen Curry could be seen introducing his wife Ayesha to American women’s tennis star Jessica Pegula. After exchanging a few warm words, Pegula also signed the same ball for Curry before shaking his hand. The 30-year-old women’s star made it to the singles final at the 2024 US Open. But she was unable to overcome Belarus’ Aryna Saabalenka, losing 5-7, 5-7.

The 2024 US Open saw Jannik Sinner become the first Italian tennis player to win the event. This was the 23-year-old’s second triumph at a Grand Slam event. The 2024 Australian Open was Sinner’s first major slam. He took down Daniil Medvedev in an epic final, winning 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 at the Rod Laver Arena earlier this year.

As for Stephen Curry, the NBA icon has been in the headlines recently after his stellar performance at the Paris Olympics. He averaged 14.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists in six matches at the sporting extravaganza to seal a fifth successive gold for the United States.
