Actress Jennifer Mistry recently made headlines with her bold accusations of sexual harassment against Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah producer Asit Modi and criticized the show for its toxic environment. Known for her role as Mrs Roshan Singh Sodi in the long-running comedy series, Mistry didn’t hold back and she bravely shared her experiences of discomfort while working on the show. While she garnered support for her courage in speaking against the wrong, she is also facing judgment from a certain section of people. In response to those passing judgment, Jennifer has taken to her social media to deliver a strong and unapologetic message.
In a recent Instagram video, the actress directly addressed those who criticized her following the controversy during her time on the set of TMKOC. In the video, she is seen giving a perfect reply to haters and says, “Agar itna jidge karna hai, judge ki kursi mein jaake baith jaiye na. (If you want to judge so much, why don’t you take a seat on the judge’s chair?” Her caption accompanying the video reads, “Dedicated to all those who love to judge…”

During an earlier interview with ETimes, Jennifer Mistry discussed her experiences after speaking out about the issues she faced. She expressed surprise at the behaviour of women in her society and claimed that the majority of them have stopped talking to her. Jennifer also mentioned that she never had any close friends in her society, but even those with whom she used to exchange greetings now avoid her and turn away when they see her from a distance.
The actress shocked everyone when she filed a complaint in May this year against Asit Modi, TMKOC Project Head Sohail Ramani and executive producer Jatin Bajaj. Monika Badoriya, known for her role as Bawri in the show, also came forward with allegations against the makers.
Apart from Jennifer Mistry’s accusations, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been consistently making headlines due to various controversies. One significant incident involved the exit of Shailesh Lodha, who portrayed the titular character and Sachin Shroff was later brought in as his replacement. Additionally, Raj Anadkat, known for his role as Tappu, also left the show abruptly, leading to Nitish Bhulani taking on the role.
Meanwhile, the potential return of Daya Ben, portrayed by Disha Vakhani, has remained a topic of discussion. The show’s creators have occasionally teased her comeback, but it was never confirmed when she’ll return and has not been replaced. Additionally, several other actors, including Neha Mehta, Monika Bhadoria and Priya Ahuja Rajda, have also left the series for various reasons.
