WhatsApp users will soon be able to edit and create their own stickers within the application, without the need to download a third-party application.
As reported by WaBetaInfo, the feature was spotted in the WhatsApp Beta for iOS 24.1.10.72 and is currently available only to limited beta testers. It is expected to roll out to more users in the coming weeks.
WhatsApp Custom Stickers Feature: What Is It and How It Works
WhatsApp has long supported stickers, which are a fun way to add some personality to your messages. However, until now, users had to rely on third-party apps to add custom stickers. However, with WhatsApp’s new feature, you will be able to create your own stickers—all within the app.
With this feature, you can edit existing stickers by selecting the ‘Edit Sticker’ action. You can also create stickers from your images. In addition, users will be able to remove the background of an image without using third-party tools or native iOS and Android features.
It is worth noting that this feature will prove to be useful for many who rely on WhatsApp for their conversational needs. Moreover, this also means that users will not have to go through the inconvenience of downloading a myriad of third-party apps, which can often contain advertisements, and thus, improve the experience of WhatsApp users who want to express themselves more.
In related news, WhatsApp is also working on an aesthetic overhaul for the app, and is working on developing a new theme feature for its iOS app, as seen in the WhatsApp Beta for iOS 24.1.10.70 update. Users will be able to choose a default theme colour for the app from a selection of five different colours including green, blue, white, coral, and purple colours to choose from.
