Vivo mobile company reportedly faced a clash at its Greater Noida manufacturing facility after 20 employees were fired by the company on Tuesday. More than 100 employees gathered at the Vivo manufacturing facility’s premises and engaged into a minor tussle with the security personnel. As per reports, no FIR was filed till late Tuesday night.
Vivo employees claimed that the company had proceeded with the layoffs without providing a notice period to the employees. As per them, Vivo was also indifferent to the fact that the employees did not have any alternate job opportunities at the time. Greater Noida Police had to be involved to subdue the face off. Vivo has given an official statement on the incident saying “With continuous growth and strategic review, we look at staffing the right size in various divisions to improve productivity. The layoff is in line with this business decision. We have strictly adhered to the rules and regulations, and the contract, and are taking all the right measures to ensure a peaceful transition keeping their best interests in consideration."
