Nintendo confirms it is not using Android for its next game console
Nintendo spokesperson said that the company was not planning to adopt Android for new gaming console- codenamed Nintendo NX.

New Delhi: Contrary to reports, video game maker Nintendo has said that it is not considering Google’s Android platform for its next gaming console, codenamed Nintendo NX.

It was reported by Japanese publication Nikkei that Nintendo’s next target is developing home video game consoles which run the popular Android operating system.

However, a company’s spokesperson denied the reports saying, “There is no truth to the report saying that we are planning to adopt Android for NX.”

The Verge notes that Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata had announced last March that it was working on "a dedicated game platform with a brand new concept".

The game maker had recently announced its plans to enter mobile gaming with its iconic characters and if it was considering adopting Android for its home gaming console, it would have marked as a major shift from reliability on its propriety OS to Google’s popular platform.
