LG India on Wednesday (February 22) launched its 2017 edition of K10 smartphone in India at an event in New Delhi.
The K10, LG says, is a combination of 'perfect design with perfect defence'. The company kicked off its 'Make In India' journey with the launch of K7 and K10 in 2016 and this year's edition of the K10 has also been made under this initiative.
"As many as 42 mobile manufacturing companies and 30+ mobile component makers have come to India since the launch of Make In India," he added.
In the design department, the LG K10 uses a 'pebble' design with a curved finish and a 5.3-inch HD in-cell IPS touch display (1280×720 pixels). There is a 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera with 120-degree wide-angle selfie lens.
The device has a fingerprint scanner at the back. It has OTG support and runs the latest Android Nougat 7.0 with 4G VoLTE. The K10 is powered by a 2,800mAh removable battery. It will be available in Black, Titan and Gold coloured variants.
The smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor. The phone comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM, 4G LTE, and microSD support (up to 2TB).
It is pertinent to note that the BJP-led central government had, in April 2016, mandated that all mobile phones will be sold with the panic button feature starting January 1, 2017. The move was made to ensure that a mobile handset also doubles up as a self-protection tool, especially for women.
The emergency helpline 112 would be the Indian equivalent to 911 of the US's all-in-one emergency services. Also read: Xiaomi Likely to Launch a Lot More Smartphones in 2017
