New Delhi: Samsung is yet to break its silence on its new Galaxy Tab S, but the virtual rumour mill has already indicated that the next Galaxy tablets will be wider, thinner, and lighter.
Tabletmonkeys.com has claimed that the purported Galaxy Tab S2 will feature iPad-like 4:3 aspect ratio that is also present in the Galaxy Tab A.
The next-generation Galaxy Tab S2 will come in two screen sizes: a 9.7-inch model (SM-T810) and an 8.0-inch model (SM- T710); reduced from the earlier 10.5-inch and 8.4-inch options.
The new S2 tablets will be based on Android Lollipop and are expected to come with new Super AMOLED displays with 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution, which is offered by Apple in its iPad Air 2. They will run the 64-bit octa-core Samsung Exynos 7420 processor combined with a 3GB RAM.
Other than slicing out the size of the devices, Samsung has also made them thinner and lighter. Both the tablets will be just over 0.2 inches thick. The bigger model will weigh 407 grams while the smaller one will be just 260 grams in weight, this could make them the lightest tablet in the world in the category.
The Galaxy Tab S2 8-inch model is expected to be priced at $399 while the bigger version will come for $499 and a 4G LTE variant would cost an additional $99.
If the rumours are to be believed, the new devices could be announced tomorrow (July 20).
