In order to improve upon the quality of its search results, Google is going ahead with a new initiative to mark ‘Offensive’ or ‘Upsetting’ content on the internet.
To do this, Google is working with independent contractors called ‘quality raters’ who are required to score the search results on Google, based on the guidelines provided by it.
As per reports, Google assigned a new task to its 10,000 quality raters on Tuesday: to find ‘Upsetting-Offensive’ content on the internet like hate or violence against a particular group, offensive terminology, racial slurs, graphic violence including child abuse or animal cruelty or explicit information about harmful activities like human trafficking.
Google is trying to steer away from ‘inaccurate information’ displayed through its search results and provide users with better and trustworthy search results.
The feedback from these Quality raters will then be used to re-engineer Google’s machine-learning systems to deliver better search results. Also read: Facebook Videos Beat YouTube With Greater Interaction on Social Media
