With Google confirming that Pixel 2 will be available in 2017, we expect the smartphones to launch around September/ October. Rick Osterloh - senior vice president, hardware at Google said last week that Pixel will stay premium and confirmed that it would launch this year. Osterloh, however, did not reveal the date of launch.

Considering the fact that Rick Osterloh said Google Pixel will remain premium, we expect the 'Pixel 2' and 'Pixel 2 XL' to cost more than last year. Google had, in 2016, moved away from high-value devices towards more premium phones, when it switched its branding from Nexus to Pixel line. The cheapest Pixel today costs £599, while the cheapest Pixel XL costs £719.

A report suggests that at least a $50 increase is expected. Also, the new Pixel phones are expected to carry improvements in the camera department and also add waterproofing.

A lower-end purported 'Pixel 2B' is also expected to launch alongside with rumoured features that include features on the lines of Android One smartphones.

Launched last year, Pixel is the first smartphone that works as an intelligent personal assistant and knowledge navigator. The 5-inch smartphone is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset, 4GB of RAM and runs on Android Nougat 7.0 operating system.
The device also has Pixel Imprint -- a fingerprint scanner on the back of the smartphone for quick access to all apps, texts and e-mails.
