Apple Could Face A Tough Time Selling The iPad Pro 2024 Model: Here’s The Reason
Apple has launched a 13-inch iPad Air for the first time in the market but will that be a good thing for the company?

Apple launched the iPad Pro 2024 and iPad Air 6 models earlier this week hoping that the stagnant iPad sales will get a lift off. However, new reports seem to put a dampener on the company’s estimates, and the culprit is from within the family.

The new iPad Pro 2024 model comes with an OLED display that has pushed its entry level price to another range and you also have the new Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro that is compatible with the large screen iPad.

So, what could possibly be the reason for Apple to be worried about the demand for the iPad Pro 2024 model this year?

Well, the answer is the new 13-inch iPad Air. Technically, that’s not the only reason but a new analyst report from TrendForce says bringing the new big screen iPad Air gives people more reasons to consider the lower-priced iPad than splurging on the Pro which is now $200 (Rs 16,100 approx) more in the market. And finally, people buying the iPad Pro 2024 model will need to invest in the new Magic Keyboard and the Apple Pencil Pro as the older versions will not work with the Pro iPad.

Looking at all these points, does make a lot of sense, especially, if people don’t need the extra raw power of the M4 silicone, as the M2-powered iPad Air is an extremely capable machine in its own right. The report points out that Apple could have around 5 million units of the iPad Pro 2024 model shipped this year.

Now, we don’t exactly know how much Apple was expecting to ship in the first place, but going by previous estimates, it seems that the company was forecasting at least double the figure than quoted in the latest report.

The iPad Pro 2024 starts from Rs 1,29,900 which gets you the base 256GB storage, but the addition of an OLED screen along with the upgrade to the latest M4 chipset seems to have compelled Apple to jack up the price by a notch. It seems the analyst feels that Apple is going to cannibalise the sales of the iPad Pro 13-inch variant because of the 13-inch iPad Air, which is the first from the company.
