While the release date of the new software update is usually announced after the new Nexus launch, this time, there seems to be some information beforehand.

An update software schedule by Canadian mobile provider Telus shows that the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow software will start rolling out for the LG-made Nexus 5 and the LG-made Nexus 6 smartphones from October 5. This is, however, only a potential release date and the over-the-air update could reach users' devices over weeks as Google generally rolls it out in a phased manner.

Given that Google will unveil two Nexus smartphones on September 29, the October 5 as the release date for the new Android software roll out appears a little too early. We believe only the actual rollout process could verify this leak.

The new Nexus smartphones, made by LG and Huawei, could be called the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P. The devices are set to be unveiled with the final version of Android Marshmallow (6.0).first published:September 25, 2015, 16:52 ISTlast updated:September 25, 2015, 16:52 IST
