Nagarjuna CANCELS His Maldives Vacation Amid Diplomatic Tension: 'I Am Looking To Go To Lakshadweep'
Following the strained ties between Maldives and India, Nagarjuna has decided to change the holiday destination to Lakshadweep.

After several Bollywood stars like Salman Khan, John Abraham, Akshay Kumar, Shraddha Kapoor, Kartik Aaryan came forward to root for Lakshadweep tourism amid tensions with Maldives, megastar Nagarjuna has also joined the cause by cancelling his trip to the Island nation. The actor shared in his recent interview that he was supposed to take a break after working non-stop for 75 days and that he had selected Maldives for the same. However, now he will be heading to Lakshadweep.

Speaking with MM Keeravaani and Chandrabose, Nagarjuna said this as quoted by Hindustan Times, “I was working for 75 days for Big Boss and Naa Saami Ranga without a break. Now, I have cancelled my Maldives trip and am looking to go to Lakshadweep next week. I did not cancel it because of fear or anything. I cancelled the tickets because it is not healthy.”

He added, “Whatever they have said or the statements they have made were not healthy at all, and it’s not right. He is our Prime Minister. He is leading 1.5 billion people. They are facing the repercussions. For every action, there is a reaction.”

For the unversed, many social media users backed ‘#ExploreIndianIslands’ after row with Maldives. The hashtag began trending on X, previously known as Twitter after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Lakshadweep Islands. He was in the picturesque destination to inaugurate the Kochi-Lakshadweep Islands Submarine Optical Fiber Connection and lay the foundation stone for the renovation of the primary healthcare facility and five model Anganwadi centres.

Following his trip, Maldives minister Abdulla Mahzoom Majid claimed India is shifting focus from the Maldives by promoting Lakshadweep as another tourist spot. Majid went on to remark that India faced significant challenges in competing with the Maldives in beach tourism. This row comes amid strained ties between the two countries following President Mohamed Muizzu’s ascent to power in November last year.
