New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday took to twitter to take a fresh dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Later in the day, while addressing a rally in UP’s Faizabad, Yadav hit back at the PM again and said his government does not discriminate between Ramzan and Diwali.

Modi on Sunday had earlier accused the UP government of ensuring power supply during Ramzan but not during Diwali.

Speaking to CNN-News 18 ahead of the rally, Yadav said, “Modi ji should tell us what development he did in Gujrat as Chief Minister. He and BJP are trying to take the election towards communal politics and I want it to be around development.”Also Read: Modi Replies to Akhilesh's Jibe, Says Doesn't Mind Working Like a 'Donkey'

He also clarified his remark where he had asked Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan not to endorse the “donkeys of Gujarat”. Bachchan is the brand ambassador for Gujarat tourism. Yadav said he “meant no insult” by his donkey remark.

At the rally, the 43-year-old CM said, “"While we are talking of development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its leaders are engaged in graveyards and crematoriums.”

He dared Prime Minister Modi to swear by the Ganga and Saryu rivers that Varanasi was not getting the 24x7 power supply, as Modi had alleged. The SP President also warned the people to beware of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati as she had in the past entered thrice into an understanding with the BJP and formed a government.

He also accused the BSP of transferring its vote to the BJP and it was therefore that not a single candidate of her party made it through to the Lok Sabha.
