New Delhi: The fifth all-party meeting in the Monsoon session of Parliament failed to end the logjam as both the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party are adamant on their stand. While the Congress has been demanding resignations of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Chief Ministers Vasundhara Raje and Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the BJP has ruled it out.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs said, "Our ministers have done nothing wrong. No comparison between acts of NDA ministers and UPA ministers."
The Congress insisted on its demand for resignations on Sushma Swaraj and Vasundhara Raje on controversy involving former Indian Premier League chief Lalit Modi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on multi-crore Vyapam.
"The outcome of the meeting is nil, we stand by our demand," said Congress MP Ghulam Nabi Azad.
At the Congress Parliament Party meet, party president Sonia Gandhi told members to stick to their demand and "not to be perturbed if left alone in Parliament".
Naidy said that the meeting continued for two hours and all other parties expressed their desire to let the House function. "Congress said 'first act, then discussion' and it got some support from two parties. Most parties said 'we are in Parliament for discussion, not disruptions'. We are facing questions in our constituencies and from our people. There are multiple issues that should be discussed."
The Opposition also rejected the government's offer of PM Narendra Modi's intervention during the debate.
